The original Nokia 3310 was released nearly 17 years ago, in the year of 2000. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come with cell phones since then. Upon its release in 2000, there were approximately 126 million of these phones sold. The Nokia 3310 was extremely popular, and if you had one, you played the “Snake” game! Although not the sleekest phone design that ever existed, it had its perks.
The Nokia 3310 was noted as an indestructible phone with an amazing battery life (much better than what we have today!). Just in case you still wanted to buy one of the old Nokia 3310, it is still being sold online through Amazon Marketplace and eBay.
I know we all love getting new phones! So, let’s take a look at what the new Nokia 3310 is rumored to offer. It is believed that Nokia will release a brand-new version of the Nokia 3310 to fit right into our world today. This will be a more modern work day phone. It is worth noting that this will not technically be considered a “Smartphone.” However, very few details are being released at this time in correlation to what other neat aspects the phone will include.
It is not known at this time what the Nokia 3310 will look like as far as design goes, however, it is our hope that it will be sleek. Further, we know that HMD Global will be releasing some other Nokia phones which will be Smartphones. They will also be releasing the Nokia P1, Nokia 3, and Nokia 5. The Nokia P1 and the Nokia 3 will be entry level phones, while the Nokia 5 will be a more advanced phone, like what we are used to.
It will certainly be interesting to see whether the Nokia 3310 can hold its own in our super advanced technological world today. If the new Nokia 3310 doesn’t provide the necessities we need today, such as the internet, it may not fare well with consumers. Both Apple and Android have taken over our cellular world.
Nokia has a lot of work cut out for me to keep up with the times and provide a phone that is comparable, or better, than what we already have. Nevertheless, it is possible that consumers will pick up the Nokia 3310 just for nostalgia reasons. Time will tell whether the Nokia 3310 becomes as popular as an Apple iPhone. The Nokia is already being sold “unofficially” in India. It is not known at this time how well the phone is selling in India.
It is worth noting that the new release of the Nokia 3310 will not be released by the same company that released the older version. The rights to the Nokia name were bought out by a small known company called HMD Global. It will cost around $63.00. The phone is set to release on February 26, 2017, at a conference that HMD Global will be having.
