The world of technology is ever-changing and evolving into the next greatest thing.  This is never more apparent than when it comes to smartphones. Smartphones have changed the way business is conducted, friendships are maintained, put entertainment in the palm of your hand, and made photo albums virtually obsolete.  It’s also the one piece of technology that is in constant change in an effort to make it better.

Here are some of the top picks for 2017 so far.

The Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung

Android has quickly become the most favored of operating systems, and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is the shining star in the Android galaxy.  The revolutionary design makes it especially appealing with the infinity edge display, whether you go with the regular S8 5.8 inch display or the slightly larger S8+ 6.2-inch display.  The greatest thing is that it’s as functional as it is beautiful.  The high resolution of 1440×2960 pixels gives every picture HD quality.  The battery life is unparalleled, and the performance is near perfect.  This is definitely the top pick for 2017 so far.

iPhone 7 Plus

iPhone 7 Plus

Apple is, of course, the definition of the word smartphone. The iOS operating system is favored by millions and Apple keeps evolving the iPhone into something greater every year.  The design hasn’t changed much from the 6S, with only minor changes like rerouted antenna lines and slightly less of a camera bump, and finally, they made the casing water resistant.  For the iPhone 7 Plus, the majority of the upgrades reside within the phone itself.  Apple has included an A10 Fusion processor that vastly increased the performance speed; Apple claims an increase of 120 times faster than the original iPhone.  The camera has also been updated to include two 12MP sensors that are capable of two times optical zoom.  Talk about clarity.  And last but certainly not least, the phone runs Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 10.

LG G6

LG G6

Another Android beauty, the LG G6 is a brand new design for LG.  They’ve taken giant leaps forward with the design.  It’s comfortable to hold, much more ergonomic than any of the LG predecessors.  It’s plated with Gorilla Glass on both the front and back sides, with solid metal edges.  It’s not as gorgeous as the Samsung S8, but it’s definitely comfortable to hold while using.  The design also follows the trend of more screen room and less wasted space.  The 5.7-inch display is impressive in its clarity with 1440×2880 pixels.  The dual camera carried over from the G5 now boast 13-megapixels and a super wide capability. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and is the first non-Google phone to come with Google Assistant.  It’s a pretty snappy phone, all things considered.

OnePlus 3T

OnePlus 3T

This may be a brand you’re not familiar with, but that you should definitely get to know better.  While its design isn’t all that special compared to the other 2017 newcomers, it’s close enough and still a nice package with a bargain price.  It’s curved design and slim feel makes it comfortable while using.  It has a 5.5-inch screen with full HD resolution and 401 PPI.  Also, it comes with a huge 6GB of RAM.  There is a camera with multiple features that make it versatile, including its strong performance in low light.  OnePlus 3T may not be the most impressive phone of 2017, but it’s nothing to laugh at!

Xiaomi Mi Mix

Xiaomi Mi Mix

The Xiaomi Mi Mix makes the number 5 spot.  It started out as a concept phone that Xiaomi decided to move to production. The Mi Mix has the highest screen to body ratio around, 91.3 percent to be exact. It has a ceramic body with 18K gold trimming around the camera and fingerprint scanner.  Very classy.  The Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor gives the Mi Mix incredible performance and speed.  The battery life is unbelievable; it could easily last two days without needing to recharge. It also has the huge 6GB RAM offered.  With its sleek, virtually edgeless design, combined with the gold trimming and it’s performance capability, the Mi Mix definitely has earned a spot on the top 5 list of 2017.
